About

Iconic 1990 Theirry Mugler Couture documented rainbow swirl dress in the most flattering body-con shape! This legendary French fashion designer is known for bold fashion and edgy, sometimes even campy, theatricality. In the 1980's, he was famous for staging dramatic choreographed fashion shows and experimenting with unusual materials. Though Mugler stopped designing his couture and ready-to-wear lines in 2003 to focus on photography and costume design, his work has a lasting legacy. This breathtaking rainbow abstract garment is a perfect example of his genius. Not only is this little number very alluring; it is true wearable art. The bodice is a seductive curved plunge with illusion net cut-outs. I adore the hourglass nipped-waist and asymmetric hemline. This rare dress has been featured in many publications including "Fashion: A History from the 18th to the 20th Century" printed by Taschen page 615 (Collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute).
