2003 YOHJI YAMAMOTO strapless black cotton runway dress with asymmetrical hem

About the Item

Stunning spring 2003 Yohji Yamamoto runway dress, exactly as seen on the runway. Made from heavyweight black cotton, the dress has a strapless column silhouette with a folded neckline that exposes a white cotton facing. The bodice is cleanly tailored with discreet hip pockets hidden in the side seams, while two internal support straps hold the dress securely in place. From the front it appears almost severe in its simplicity, but the hem breaks into an unexpected asymmetric flare at one side, subtly shifting the proportions and movement as the wearer walks. An understated design that reveals its complexity through construction and proportion rather than embellishment Yohji size 3 which best fits a US size 6/8. This dress was several inches too large on the US size 2 mannequin, so the dress was clipped. When worn by the appropriate body size, the shape more closely resembles the shape in the runway pics. Approximate measurements: bust 36", waist 30" (can be tightened with inner straps), hips 40" and overall length at center back to hem 45". Fabric content: 100% cotton. Made in Japan. Condition is excellent.
