Alexander McQueen Look 5 was the last dress that Lee McQueen placed on a mannequin.(ab-blab.blogspotdotcom)..
Mr. McQueen created his last collection by folding and pleating material by hand on standing dress forms, often using a single bolt of fabric.
“All the patterns in this collection were cut on the stand by Lee Alexander McQueen”. “Each piece is unique, as was he.”

Alexander McQueen's final collection was consisted of 16 pieces.
McQueen referred to the collection as “Angels and Demons” in tweets just weeks before his death. Sarah Burton, McQueen's right hand and design assistant for 16 years, said that in the beginning of the Fall 2010 collection, McQueen had turned away from the world of the Internet, which he had harnessed for his last show. "He wanted to get back to the handcraft he loved, and the things that are being lost in the making of fashion. He was looking at the art of the Dark Ages, but finding light and beauty in it. He was coming in every day, draping and cutting pieces on the stand." At the time of McQueen's death, the 16 pieces shown had been 80 percent finished.

Retailers has been invited to buy a showroom collection spanning about 160 pieces.Alexander McQueen last collections was not expected to be widely sold. Instead, according to a spokeswoman, they will be loaned out on a limited basis to a few fashion magazines.........Popsugar

The print references the 15th century artist, Stephan Lochner's church paintings of the Annunciation.

At the end of the day McQueen always knew just how to achieve perfect proportions and how to construct his fantasy garments from the inside out and this dress is perfect example .
All dress is lined in silk fabric, skirt has lots of tulle fabric for shape support, snap closure on the back (large size snap's are all covered in same silk printed fabric as dress). The entire dress is mounted onto cream silk organza in order to achieve the richness in the drape and give the duchess satin the extra body required and all seams are bound in the organza. The sleeve has and invisible zip at the wrist in order to achieve the tight slim line.
There are two internal bodices, one which acts as a corset allowing the dress to be worn without any underpinnings for the bust ,and the other is part of a slip which sits between the corset and printed outer layer of the dress and has the feathered underskirt and layered net petticoat attached.
The fabric is silk Duchesse. The gold hand painted goose feathers that make up the underskirt are a surprising and luxurious addition and we are given a glimpse of at the right side skirt .Printed silk fabric wraps beautifully around the body.
