Pristine 1920's Beaded Cotton Flapper Dress & Jacket

About

These 1920's beaded dress and jacket ensembles are so rare and hard to find almost 100 years after they were created. This is only the second one that I have been lucky enough to find and it is so beautifully and densely beaded that it is hard to tell that there is a black cotton dress and jacket underneath. The Art Deco cardigan style jacket is bordered with small silver white bugle beads. There are oval cutouts at the top of each point, and they are edged in beadwork. The sleeves have the same oval cutouts and a long opening with six beaded bands for added interest. These match the two beaded bands at the neckline which have a snap closure. The Art Deco sleeveless dress is just smothered in beadwork, all done by hand like the jacket. It repeats the beaded patterns and open ovals that are seen on the jacket. The dress has a dropped waistline and a scalloped hemline. Both pieces are in excellent condition and although they are not marked they are most likely Made in France in the 1920's. To avoid damage in repeated shipping of older pieces garments from the 1920's are not returnable.
