About the Item
Geoffrey Beene must have had fun playing with this crazy space age fabric. It looks like crumpled paper and feels like something used in a galaxy far far away. It all comes together with Mr. Beene's iconic American style to create a fun cocktail dress perfect for a night on the town. The red upper is trimmed with a metallic silver border which creates a trompe l'oeil effect at the back reminiscent of tuxedo tails. The dress buttons at the front and cuffs with faceted rhinestones. The coordinating belt also adds a little sparkle with a rhinestone buckle. Beautifully made with all the detail to attention one would expect from a Geoffrey Beene design. The dress is in very good condition though the belt shows wear. The belt buckle would have originally been an oval shape but it has been broken and now looks like a crescent. It was pinned for the photographs and will need to be replaced either with an alternative belt or a different buckle.
