Giambattista Valli Animal Print Silk Linen Dress With Ruffled Collar

About the Item

This Giambattista Valli dress combines visual graphics with expert tailoring and a youthful aesthetic. The sheath style dress is a combination of a textured nubby black linen and an animal print that has textured characteristics of dupioni silk, though a little more refined, and also exhibits the unusual detail of a photographic image. The ruffled collar dips in the back to create a winged silhouette framing both the face and arms. The zipper and hook are uniquely placed down one seam in the back, as shown in photograph 10. Fully lined in a wispy sheer organza and in good condition though close observation reveals a couple of pinholes at the back panel of the animal print as shown in photograph 13, some fading to the black part of the animal print also at the back shown in photograph 14 and separation in a seam of the lining shown in photograph 12. The flaws are certainly worth mentioning but easily overlooked both due to the camouflage nature of the animal print and the vibrancy of the design. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS The size is marked Italian 42 / S and best fits a size 6 though it might also work for other sizes due to the unstructured style of the silhouette. In general, the sheath cut of the dress works well for someone with a strong shoulder and long legs or at least the willingness to add height with heels. For visual reference, the mannequin in the photographs is a size 4.
