About

Part of Galliano's eponymous collection, this gown was worn on the runway by Alek Wek in 2002. A sculptural statement piece, it demonstrates Galliano's "more is more" design philosophy in color, pattern, fabric and embellishment and stands in a class by itself.

Bias cut mermaid gown with 17 deep skirt gores for maximum ankle sweep. Gown hangs from a lattice of fringed pom-pom trim crisscrossed at bust to form shoulder straps; corset-style lace-up front and back with 40” tails tipped in coyote. Fringe crisscrosses again across front and rear hips to accentuate hourglass shape. 26 covered loop button closure plus top hook and eye at left seam; unlined.
