About
Patrick Kelly was scouted by Pierre Bergé in the 1980s. His youthful spirit and perspective on fashion inspired Bergé to turn him into the next YSL. Sadly just when his career in Paris was taking off his life was cut short. Patrick Kelly only designed for five years. Recently his work was the focus of an exhibit at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. A dress of this same cut and fabric was showcased in the exhibit only with a longer skirt attached. The hem on this dress is original and was designed as a body-con dress of the day, meant for free movement and dancing late at the discotheques of Paris. It is a great and wearable piece of fun African American Fashion design history.
