About

This haute couture gown by Pierre Balmain, constructed in black wool is incredibly contemporary and elegant. Featuring a plunging neckline and long sleeves with zips to the wrists, the dress skims the body with a narrow cut to the ankle. An additional panel of wool flares out from the back of the dress, creating a short fishtail train to the rear, making this the ultimate red carpet dress!

Pierre Balmain and the house of Balmain were one of the greatest voices in the haute couture world of Paris in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Balmain, a friend and contemporary of Dior, reached superstar status in the 1950s with his ‘Jolie Madame’ and a strong, bold use of shape and colour, and his haute couture pieces from the 1950s and 1960s are firm favourites at WilliamVintage.
