Pierre Cardin Haute Couture Green Silk Crepe Sequined Cocktail Dress ca. 1967

About the Item

A circa 1967 Pierre Cardin haute couture green sequined silk crêpe cocktail dress that features a keyhole opening at the back. The main draw of this slinky silk cocktail dress are the shades of yellow, green and light violet appliquéd and embroidered opalescent sequins and beads in spiky, curved shapes by Jean-Guy Vermont - a wonderful and rare example of Cardin's versatility as a designer and ability to employ age-old haute couture embroidery technique. And for these unusual reasons, this is a garment for the serious collector. That said, the dress is only in fair-good condition with discoloration to the fabric at the back, yellowing under the arms, the beginnings of a hole at the back hem and some minor loss of sequins. The condition is reflected in the price. No size tag but my guess is it will fit a size 2 or 4. Haute Couture label: Pierre Cardin Paris.
