About

Whether or not you're a pirate, a good wench vest can really come in handy. Especially when it is a cool hand painted design from Charlotte Blankenship de Vasquez and her Char 'Hecho en Mexico' label. This early 1970's piece is the classic corset vest shape with a plunging neckline, slight v-shaped front and laces. The difference is the 1970's bohemian addition of leather laces at the sides, shoulders and front with psychedelic hand painted imagery. Char designs are real pieces of wearable art and this piece serves as proof. It originally retailed at Snooty Hooty a boutique famous for bringing cutting edge fashion to Atlanta, GA for decades. There are condition issues with the vest. Some of the painted decoration at the front seems to be smeared and can be seen in photos 6 & 7. The front leather lace has been replaced as the original was missing in action. Those issues are easy to overlook and might go unnoticed but the primary considerations are the age stains and discolorations on the back panel which can be seen in photos 4 & 9. In spite of the issues, this is an amazing piece and we love it!
