Vintage VALENTINO COUTURE Dove Gray Wool Jacket

About the Item

Oscar de la Renta, was a Dominican-American fashion designer. Born in Santo Domingo, he was trained by Cristóbal Balenciaga and Antonio del Castillo. De la Renta became internationally known in the 1960s as one of the couturiers who dressed Jacqueline Kennedy. He worked for Lanvin and Balmain. His eponymous fashion house has boutiques around the world including in Harrods of London and Madison Avenue in New York. This is a 1960-70’s Valentino Couture lightweight long sleeve jacket made of a dove gray wool. This piece is special because of the treatment of the fabric and the flawless hemlines. This sleek jacket ties at the neck and is worn open in an upside down “V”, like a cape. There are no closures nor lining, but two slit pockets on either side. Slight princess sleeve detail on the shoulders with decorative pleating. This gorgeous piece is in good vintage condition but please note a few small moth-holes (shown in the photos). The tag reads “VALENTINO COUTURE.” Best fits a size small. Condition: Good, consistent with age - please see photos.
