Style, sex, and fashion are characteristic elements of Zandra Rhodes’s aesthetics.
She is an experimental artist with strong ties to the punk movement.
And, together with British fashion designers including Vivienne Westwood, they continue to create what is known as “haute punk” garments.
Still under the radar in the US. The fashion crowd however, even the youngest people know what she is about. And now an increasing number of collectors are seeking to buy her early pieces.
This peplum top is in a “feminine” violet which, with magenta, are the two hues that the designer has been committed to using since the beginning of her career.
Constructed with a hand printed acetate-cotton blend material which is adorned with rhinestones and a gold motif inspired by Native American culture. This piece is a great example of Zandra Rhodes’s zestfully patterned print design.
Tailored to fit closely to the body, the top gives an hourglass silhouette inspired by historical clothing. This V-neckline top features long gathered sleeves. Closure is with a long zip at the back, from the neckline to the hem.
