1998 S/S GIVENCHY COUTURE by ALEXANDER MCQUEEN illusion striped silk skirt suit

About the Item

Sharply tailored two-tone stretch silk blend skirt suit from Alexander McQueen’s Spring 1998 collection for Givenchy Couture. Made in shades of deep navy and slate blue-grey, the jacket features a dramatic double-breasted front with exaggerated peaked lapels, padded shoulders and shaped seaming through the body. The curved deep navy center panel creates a strong elongated line against the cooler blue-grey side panels and sleeves. The jacket has flap pockets and a slim straight skirt that mirrors the same contrasting panel construction. Similar pieces were seen on the spring 1998 runway. Size 42. Approximate measurements for jacket: shoulders 16", bust 36", waist 32", arm length 24" and overall length at center back 27". Approximate measurements for skirt: waist 29", hips 40" and length 22". Fully lined jacket and skirt. Pockets remain sewn closed. Fabric content: 53% silk, 42% nylon and 5% elastane. Made in France. Very good condition.
