Vintage 1960's Galanos Couture Ivory Silk Satin Low-Plunge Long Sleeve Jumpsuit

About the Item

A gorgeous Galanos Couture ivory-creme silk satin jumpsuit dating back to the mid 1960's. Dedication to excellence in craftsmanship and design was the foundation of James Galanos' career. The quality of workmanship found in his clothing is unsurpassed in America today. It may seem a contradiction that his sophisticated, mature and elegant clothing were designed and produced in Southern California, traditionally the land of sportswear. But Galanos was satisfied to remain where he began his business in 1951, a continent away from New York and the center of the American fashion industry. This ultra-chic jumpsuit is a perfect example of his talent. The bodice has the most flattering low-cut plunge slight empire design with lean, long button-wrist sleeves. I love the high-waist relaxed trouser leg which finishes this garment off with an effortless elegance. For every woman, a jumpsuit are a fashion must-have. It's a style for all ages, simply because it exudes an undeniably youthful flair, and yet remains incredibly timeless. Measurements Bust: 36-37 inches Waist: 29 inches Hips: up to 40 inches Total Length: 58 inches Sleeve Length: 23 inches Inseam:31 inches This Galanos designer couture jumpsuit is in excellent condition with no rips or holes. Closures with hidden alternating buttons and eye/hooks. Only sign of age is some very faint spots to the silk satin which are not noticeable when worn. Please message for detailed pictures. This garment is over 50 years old and is truly stunning.

  • Vintage 1970s Sant' Angelo Burgundy Draped Chiffon Bodysuit & Fringed Maxi Skirt
    By Giorgio di Sant' Angelo
    Located in Beverly Hills, CA
Incredibly stunning and highly desirable Giorgio Sant' Angelo designer bodysuit ensemble dating back to the late 1970's. He first hit the fashion scene when Diana Vreeland asked him to design clothing for a desert location shoot that starred Verushka in 1968. This shoot is legendary and his clothing was instantly sought out by all the most fashionable women on the planet. Sant' Angelo was the winner of two Coty Awards and two Council of Fashion Designers of America honors. He has had an entire museum exhibit dedicated to his work and will go down in history as one of the great American designers. This seductive two-piece set is a perfect example of his genius. I love the low-cut plunging draped bodysuit as a wardrobe staple. Would also look fantastic with trousers or jeans! The interior is a stretch jersey in a matching burgundy hue so when you put it on, the bodysuit molds to your bod in the most comfortable way. The sleeves are cut long and the draped backless bodice flows into the sash which wraps around the waist. Such a smart design! The matching high-waist embroidered fringe maxi skirt finishes the look off effortlessly. Sant' Angelo once said, "I am not a fashion designer but an artist who works in fashion engineer of form." We added many pictures so you can appreciate this masterful achievement. Measurements Bodysuit (varies due to stretch) Bust: 34-38 inches Waist: 26-30 inches Sleeve Length: 24 inches Skirt Waist: 28 inches Hips: up to 42 inches Total Length: 44 inches This vintage Giorgio di Sant...

Givenchy, the name itself evokes glamour, refined elegance, simplicity and style. Givenchy's trademark of sculpted lines and luxurious fabrics make his work easily recognizable. This bold jumpsuit ensemble, dating back to their 1991 haute couture collection, is a beautiful example of his brilliance. The fabric itself is a masterpiece; luxurious emerald-green and magenta-pink lined silk satin. I adore the boned strapless bodice with over-sized cummerbund belt. The flattering nipped waist met by straight-legged trouser pants create the perfect amount of drama to this timeless piece. The matching hourglass peplum jacket complete with wide lapel-collar and over-sized pockets finish this garment off with a perfect femme fatale vibe. With this ensemble, you have one complete outfit or amazing separates! Spring Summer 1991 Collection France Modernist ensemble from Paco Rabanne's Haute Couture show. Composed of a pair of Bermuda shorts, a tunic-dress made of stretchy ribbed knitwear in lemon-yellow and a bolero with quilted fins in iridescent silver foil called Papier Fou. This clever and deliberately avant-garde process corresponded at the time to a sheet of rhodoïd laminated with a reflective silver foil. Metal buckle with yellow synthetic stone cabochon to close the bolero. Light crazy paper patina, clean set, little or no wear. Very good condition of colour and conservation. Exhibited and catalogued at the Villa Rosemaine...
