The Rudi Gernreich "monokini" 1964 Topless Bathing Suit RARE!
About the Item
Designer, Rudi Gernreich was one of the most revolutionary designers of the 20th century. The rare Gernreich's 1964 topless bathing suit was one of the most sensational, shocking, and innovative of its time. Gernreich throughout his career designed experimental women's fashion free of restraints and interior construction. As a result the Rudi garment was always free, relaxed and comfortable on the body. The ease of wear is today significant in women's fashion and sportswear.
Swimsuit fashioned of navy blue wool with overhead stretch wool straps. To be worn as shown in photos. Not many were produced and next to none are found in the market. To this day the swimsuit is highly coveted. If you are a collector or museum this is a must have.
Documented in the Rudi Gernreich book by Peggy Moffit and Bill Claxton page 71.
