An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese export silver bottle coaster, an addition to our ornamental silverware collection.
This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) bottle coaster has a cylindrical form to a plain spreading base.
The body of this Chinese silver coaster is embellished with fine and impressive embossed and pierced decoration depicting two iconic oriental dragons amidst clouds.
The decoration to the body incorporates a sun motif to either side, each accented with a central cartouche, one remains vacant and the other bears the contemporary engraved monogram initials 'CHD.'
The upper and lower rims of this coaster are encompassed with plain applied moulded borders accented with bands of tooled decoration.
This exceptional coaster has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling silver (925, 925/1000).
Condition
This antique Chinese silver coaster is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in exceptional presentation condition.
The Chinese hallmarks struck to the underside of this coaster are all very clear.

A quite large and engaging fine print by famed Japanese printmaker Yoshitoshi Mori. The print portrays an ancient Samurai, one of Mori's favorite subjects, with an arrowhead in hand. It is stamped, signed, dated (1985) and numbered (12/50) by the artist. The original 1985 price of 300,000 yen can be seen written along the bottom edge of print. I have only seen this print offered once before making it relatively rare. A must have for collectors or admirers of Yoshitoshi Mori's work or lovers of Japanese prints in general. This exceptional and large antique Chinese Export silver mug has a tapering cylindrical form.
The surface of this mug is embellished with chased decoration depicting Asian figures amidst a classic oriental village setting, performing chores and meditating in prayer.
The ornamentation to the mug incorporates an applied shield shaped cartouche ornamented with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Chefoo Races 1893, Aubrey N Beauclerk, Winner of five races (including Champions) on "Bunkum", "Rag", "Bobtail" from M. Boyd Beedon'.
The upper and lower portions of the mug are encircled with plain applied moulded decoration.

“We left the fireplace very clean and wabi-sabi, so that it blended into the wall,” says Shamaris, who further appointed the space with a hand-carved antique daybed whose plush pillows are upholstered in antique textiles from the Indonesian island of Sumba.
