Japanese Antique Cabinets, Wabi Sabi, Japandi
About the Item
This is a Japanese antique cabinet made in the Meiji period.
This is a masterpiece that highlights traditional techniques and craftsmanship, and has two shelves with sliding doors.
The material used is Japanese cedar, and it has been processed with "Uki-zukuri" to make the most of its texture.
U-zukuri is a technique that highlights the unevenness of the wood grain by leaving the hard parts of the grain and carefully scraping the soft parts. This creates beautiful shadows on the surface of the wood, resulting in a finish that gives a sense of rich expression.
You can also feel the texture of the wood grain directly with your hands, and feel the warmth that has been passed down through time. As a collection shelf or cabinet, it is an ideal item for creating a space that incorporates the taste of Japan and the beauty of nature.
