Antique Chinese Sancai Glazed Ceramic Drum Form, Tang Dynasty. A modeled ceramic, created as part of the burial furniture, of a miniature barrel drum popular during the Tang Dynasty. The bulbous form with flat top and large bosses in a row top and bottom, further decorated with three floral bosses on the sides. Glazed overall in the traditional “Sancai” (three-color lead based glaze) of yellow, green and white in spots running creating an “egg and spinach” effect overall. The underside and interior unglazed revealing the whitish beige biscuit. Tang Dynasty (618-907) Condition: Minor signs of age and wear, otherwise fine. Size: 3.25 in. high x 3 in. in diameter (83mm x 76mm in diameter). Weight: 5.4 oz. (155g.)
