About the Item

This is a very beautifully hand painted Chinese-Imari porcelain Large Dish or Plate / Platter from the Qing, Kangxi period, 1662-1722, dating to Circa 1700. Large diameter ( 13.9 inches, over 35cm) Kangxi period Plates or Chargers are hard to find! This Chinese Export plate is well potted with a carefully cut base rim and a lovely rich glassy white glaze, with a very light blue tinge. The Plate is beautifully hand painted with a superb pattern , very much in the Kakiemon style with large prunus and smaller shrub framing a bird and a gilded deer, all in a watery clearing and painted within a gold circle in the central well. Outside of the well is a 4 section border patter, leading to the outer rim which holds another superb 4 part border of gilded deer intersperced with floral sprigs. This is probably one of the best hand painted, plate patterns we have seen - finely painted and heavily gold gilded. The base is marked on the outer rim with with two long floral sprigs hand painted in cobalt blue and red. Overall, a very beautiful, finely hand painted, large Dish / Plate, made in the Kangxi period when Chinese porcelain was at its zenith. This is Kangxi period hand painting at its best!
