Chinese Porcelain Large Plate, Qing Qianlong, Cobalt Blue, Circa 1750

About the Item

This is a very good Chinese porcelain large plate, made for the export (Canton) market, during the middle of the 18th century, Qing-Qianlong period. The plate is well hand decorated with much detail in varying shades of cobalt blue, with a glaze of a very soft light blue shade. The base is unmarked. The plate has a central hand-painted pattern of flowers issuing from a rocky base with an incense burner and small flower vase, standing on a table at the side, all set within an inner border. On the outside of this central pattern there is a detailed continuous inner rim border design with scrolls, flowers and other motifs. The reverse has three floral sprigs around the outer rim. We date this piece to circa 1750.

    Wear consistent with age and use. One old small under rim flake with a short associated hairline. Very slight rim fritting in places Otherwise very good. NO Restoration.
