About the Item
This finely glazed ginger jar or vase in powder blue made in the early first quarter of the 19th century exhibits the best of Chinese monochrome porcelains. A refined simple shape, well potted, a difficult glaze to achieve in a uniform format and good scale without being too small or too large. The vase and two other single vases have been it he same Texas location for the last 40 years. There is no reign mark but the vase has a double blue underglaze ring to the base and rests on an old Chinese hardwood base. The Ginger jar has been drill but the lid and finial where maintained and are now set together again.
