About the Item
Exceptional contemporary Japanese museum-quality porcelain raised deep charger/centerpiece, hand-painted in vivid green and yellow, in a stunning Pentagon shape. It showcases a unique interpretation of giraffes and is a signed masterpiece by a highly acclaimed award-winning contemporary Japanese master porcelain artist. This is part of a series of pieces featuring the animals of the African savannah. Depicted here are giraffes looking skyward and earthward on the inner surface of this striking piece, with humanlike eyes that convey an eerie sense of self-awareness.
The inner rim and the attractive base of this rare piece are decorated with two different intricate geometric pattern in two of Kutani prime colors. Of the artist starts each work with the eyes that leads him to the whole design.
Having started his career in the venerable tradition of old Kutani porcelain, this award-winning artist faithfully draws on at least one of the prime Kutani colors of yellow, green, red, blue and purple in each of his work. The artist's profile is available upon request.
