A Chinese Famille Verte Enameled Porcelain Charger, Kangxi Period (1662-1722)

About the Item

The central field depicting two mythological feng-huang (phoenix's) encircling chrysanthemum blossoms & scrolling vines within a band of ruyi-heads, the cavetto rising to an iron red ground of repeating diaper designs interspersed by auspicious geometric symbols and bai-ze (mythological beasts). The rim's interior showing bands of ruyi-heads against a red cell ground, the underside decorated with bands of iron red petal-shaped panels & scrolls, raised overall upon a channeled foot rim.
