PAIR of Japanese Satsuma Plates Earthenware Hand-Painted Meiji Period Circa 1900

$424.53per set

About

These are a good pair of Japanese earthenware plates with hand-painted and gilded Satsuma decoration which we date to the late Meiji period, circa 1900. Each plate is circular, well hand decorated with a landscape scene depicting women wearing kimonos and children by a lakeside building with mountains in the background. The plates also have a narrow geometric border to the rim. The hand gilding is finely applied. Each plate has a two character seal mark to the base.
