Republic Period Famille Rose Iron Red Ground Tea Caddy

About the Item

A striking Chinese export porcelain tea caddy, dating to the Republic Period (circa 1912–1940). The hexagonal body is decorated with a bold iron red key fret ground, inset with quatrefoil reserves finely painted in famille rose enamels. Each cartouche depicts flowering branches and birds in vibrant pink, yellow, green, and turquoise tones, exemplifying the refined artistry of the period. The caddy retains its original conforming lid, painted with matching red scrollwork and floral accents. The contrast between the rich iron red lattice and the soft famille rose palette creates a highly decorative effect, making this piece both functional and collectible.
