About the Item
Coffee table with storage space worked from a solid piece of white marble from Tinos Vathy marble quarry. Internally it is hammered with a specialized sculptor's tool. The mobile (with hidden casters storage part is made of solid oakwood.
This coffee table is structured in two different traditional craftsmen's workshops on the island of Tinos in Cyclades, Greece.
Measures: 43 cm x 113 cm x 43 cm
The furniture of this collection was presented firstly in the exhibition "the poetics of Matter", which was organized by the architect Maria Vidali in collaboration with the video-artist Theophilo Ieropoulo and the semiologist Rea Wallden. The exhibition aimed to reveal the procedure followed by matter becoming a furniture through the Tinian craftsman. They were participating eight carpenters, a marble sculptor and two smiths. The eleven craftsmen created furniture on Maria Vidali's design work. The modern design of the furniture becomes materialised through the work of craftsmen using traditional, contemporary as well as individual techniques.
Furniture of the collection were selected and participated in the big exhibition Greek design = Good Design in Athens 2013. The furniture are numbered and their production limited.
Packaging is not included in the price of the furniture, but on the shipping expenses.
