Early 20th Century Chinese Opera Drum

About

This monumental-scale drum makes no excuses for its commanding presence—both figuratively and literally. Its top is covered in natural hide and its handmade wooden base is finished in red lacquer, a hue which represents strength in Chinese culture. Traditionally used by a Peking opera troupe to accompany the dances and songs of traditional Chinese opera, a drum like this lives on as a most unexpected table.
