Indian Bone Inlaid Anglo-Indian Settee

About the Item

Large antique hand carved Anglo Indian sofa, day bed, heavily inlaid with bone. The Anglo Indian colonial sofa is inlaid with bone and ebony inlays throughout. Anglo-Indian settee bench handcrafted from hardwood, and wonderfully hand carved and adorn with beautiful floral inlay designs and motifs all around very fine woven cane on the seat and back. The Anglo-Indian settee bench woven cane is still in very good condition without any holes or repair. An amazing example of an early 20th century Rajasthan bone inlaid and ebony handcrafted Sofa. One of the best examples we have ever seen, all handcrafted with individual inlaid bone (not ivory) and ebony wood sections, the inlays create intricate geometric and floral Moorish patterns. This Anglo Indian sofa is a true piece of art, this is an exquisite statement piece and is gorgeous from every angle, an amazing decorative centre piece that would bring a touch of class to any living space, Moorish, Moroccan, Mediterranean Colonial or Modern decor. Down cushion and bolster recovered with neutral fabric could be changed to match your decor. Dimensions in inches: H 29.5” x W 93” x D 29.5” Seat 16" (H) without cushion. Seat with cushion: 18" Origin: India Period: 1940 Anglo Indian settee with Moorish design. Hand made in Northern India, Hoshiarpur District, India. In the 19th century these exotic furniture pieces were crafted and retailed in Madras and Calcutta by the English and Dutch East India Companies for the European export market. .
