Late 19th Century Large Chinese Daybed
About the Item
A large elmwood daybed from Shandong province, China. The color and patina of the daybed has been kept fully original, but repairs have been made to the woven seat as it was already torn. The inside of the side panels have circular carvings of the longevity symbol made up of double hornless dragons and cloud motifs, while the outside is plain. The front of the daybed has stylized floral designs. The unique part about this daybed are the large massive curved feet, which measures 20.5cm at the slimmest point and 25cm at its widest.
