Massive And Magnificent Antique Chinese Basket As Cocktail Table

About the Item

A rare and extraordinary Antique octagonal Carry Basket thoughtfully re-purposed as a Cocktail Table. Once likely used for linen or clothing storage, the Basket retains its capacity to store clothing, books or games. Overall, the tight, and in some cases minuscule weaving along with carved and gilt wood elements, Greek Key carving and patterns woven into the split bamboo as well as intricate punch decorated brass plaques and the cast Dragon handle denote this as a very rare and specially crafted piece. The Basket has been retro-fitted at a later time with an octagonal inset glass top creating an unusual and very decorative table large enough for games, books or maybe dining. Dimensions: 49.85” wide by 36.25” deep by 32.75” high (Handle). Table surface is 16.5” high. Condition: Please see detail photos. The Table shows various signs of age including finish and gilt losses as well as some slight weaving damage to the handle however remains strong with an astonishing and exotic presentation.
