The long low table, breached naturally into silver color by the age, with wabi sabi & primitive look. Originally made as Tachidai (tachi-ita / okidai), kimono-sewing table.
Made circa 1900s - 20s (late Meiji - Taisho - early Showa period) estimated from the material & condition.

1860s Japanese antique Edo Keio era wabi sabi urushi low writing desk, tea table

156 to 159 years-old antique low writing desk with 2 drawers.
product of Keio period (1865-1868), which is the last 3 years of Edo era. estimate from the kanji character "Keio (慶應)", remains on the outside of the bottom panel of the drawer (see photos).
original urushi lacquer remains thick & glossy on the deep-grained surface, in good condition.
Smooth opening & closing operation on both drawers.
The bottom bar on the left leg has been replaced by seller with traditional, same-to-original wood joinery technique (nimai hozo, double mortise & tenon joints), without adhesive. That part was already missing at some time in the past. vintage reclaimed wood for replacing material.

108 years-old wooden small tansu (chest of drawers) with 4 drawers.
Finished with traditional Urushi lacquer. The original laquer remains well & gives a good wabi sabi touch.
Each handles are partly covered with Boro (hand-woven, indigo dyed cotton cloth) - this is another wabi sabi element of this tansu.
Smooth opening & closing operation for all drawers.
Product of Taisho 5 (1916), written on the bottom together with maker's address & name.
