Antique and Largest Ever Malay Brunei Ritual Bronze Kettle w. Animal Sculptures

About the Item

Stunning 'Asian tribal art' festivity and ritual vessel with Chinese influences. This amazingly ornate, meaningful and highly decorative antique is entirely handcrafted and made of bronze. When you look at all the rare decorations, the sheer size and the stunning bronze patina of this early 1900s water kettle then you would almost forget to think about how difficult it must have been circa 1900 to get the raw materials and the tools to actually be able to create a piece like this. This bronze spouted vessel comes with a wide variety of real animals, but one can also see the Chinese influence in the Malay region, because this antique also has large dragons on either side, a Buddhist temple lion on top and possibly also a dragon's head from which the actual spout emerges (image 15 and 16). This antique water kettle would have been used during festivities, ceremonies and local rituals. We found a similar, but significantly smaller one in the database online collection database (object no. TM-1408-1) of the "National Museum of Ethnology" in Leiden, here in the Netherlands. From the research that we have done, ours could very well be the largest ever antique Malay Brunei kettle. The movable bronze handle with the opposite crocodile sculptures is a work of art in its own right and the patina of this entire kettle is simply gorgeous. Because of its large size it can be placed on the floor too, but displayed on a small table or on a Chinese credenza or in a niche in the wall (with maybe some light on it) this rare and all handcrafted antique will look amazing. It will also make a great talking piece, because most people will have never seen such a rare antique. We had not either. Our price for this extra large antique ceremonial kettle even includes perfect packing and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days. Maximum height x width x depth as in image one: 15.75 x 15.75 x 11.8 inches (or 40 x 40 x 30cm). Weight: 8.5 kilograms or 18.7 pounds lbs. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for artistic and meaningful and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.

  • Stunning & Largest Ever Pair of Antique Copper Pans for Wild Roast in Late 1700s
    Located in Lisse, NL
Extremely rare pair of top quality handcrafted, copper pans from the late 1700s or early 1800s. These enormous and amazing antique pans are the largest we have ever seen and to have found a pair that have been together for at least 200 years was another unique experience. In the late 1700s or early 1800s these must have been part of the kitchen interior of a castle or a large mansion. These literally are the size of small suitcases and they would have been handled by two adults, because when they are filled with gravy, meat and potatoes, they would be impossible to carry around by a single person. Mind you, the rectangular one alone weighs over 46 pounds. These completely handcrafted and hand-hammered copper antiques also come with perfectly hand forged wrought iron handles and they too are as strong and tight as the day they were forged all those years ago. These are the perfect decorative antiques for a five star hotel, for a Michelin star restaurant and they also make a great gift for a worldclass 'chef de cuisine'. With all due respect, we would rather not see these museum worthy antiques be used in a garden with flowers or plants in them. Mind you, our price for this largest ever and superb condition pair of handcrafted antique copper pans...
