Antique Pair of Blue, White and Multicoloured Cloisonné Cranes

About the Item

This fine pair of antique Cloisonné cranes would look equally good on a console or acrylic stand and would add presence to any room. Cloisonné, derived from the French word “enclosed” is an ancient technique of decorating metalwork objects. This technique is done by soldering wires in thin strips placed on edge making small compartments. The compartments are then filled with enamel that can be of any colour. In Chinese culture the crane is considered the prince of all feathered creatures and thus has legendary status. The crane embodies longevity and peace.
