Imposing Late 19th Century Japanese Bronze Okimono of a Samurai

About the Item

A wonderful Japanese Meiji-era, (1868 - 1912) Bronze Okimono depicting a Samurai. Signed by Miyao and with the trademark, fine quality wood and Gold lacquer stand, the figure stands in combative pose. He is holding his Yari (Long Spear of the Samurai) in both hands and wears his Wakizashi (Sword) at his waist. Note that the Sword is detachable. He wears a Helmet which features a Sparrow and his robes are adorned with feathers, Phoenix and Mon (emblems). He also wears a finely crafted Inro. The Okimono bears the mark of Miyao in a gold plate on the back of his right leg.
