Khmer Bronze Two Part Bottle Vase, Angkor Period, 12th-14th Century

About the Item

An elegant Khmer pear shaped bronze bottle vase, Angkor Period, 12th-14th century. Crafted of bronze in two parts. When separated, the lower portion of the vase becomes an offering vessel with a pedestal foot, while the upper portion becomes a bowl or cup stand. The bronze with an overall dark brown patina. The body pitted, with areas of light malachite green and red cuprite patina. The shape of the vase taking cues from yuhuchunping vases from China of the Song Dynasty. The upper portion of the vase even with incised bow string lines.
