18th c. Exotic Chinese Dining Room/Bed Alcove

About

Converted 18th c. Shanghai alcove bed that seats four in romantic surroundings of superbly carved wood interior with original 19th c. Paintings in original window areas. Soft green velvet banquettes line either side accommodating four diners comfortably. There is a moveable table between. The antechamber which was added in Ningpo in the 19 th c. Accounts for the elaborate exterior as opposed to sophisticated interior Shanghainese 18 th c. carving. Two small 19th c. Chairs in the antechamber accommodate two additional guests with small portable tables brought in. The entire bed breaks down into small pieces. There is not a nail or screws in the bed. It can be returned to its original bed integrity.
