About the Item

A substantial and impressive Chinese four panel low relief carved and painted room divider screen in pastel tones on black ground. Colorful painted relief decoration on the front featuring figures in traditional robes in domestic scenes and moving throughout the architectural river landscape with walkways and gnarled trees. With an inscription (Likely a Poem). The backs are painted with elegant gilt bamboo canes on the black ground. Each panel with hinged attachments. Dimensions: 23 1/2" W each panel, 90" H x 1" D; overall approx. 95" W Condition: Please review the detail photos. Various signs of age and use include some losses and wear to the painted finish commensurate with some age and display. Overall a fine screen with a fine and serene presentation.
