Large Japanese Edo period six panel screen featuring a scene from a narrative tale set in a villa. Painted in the Kano School style on squares of gold leaf. Set in spring with a blossoming cherry tree next to a river. Beautiful pigmented colors and intricately painted robes with the characters having expressive faces. Unique screen set in an ebonized wood frame with a dark silk border. Offered by Erin Lane Estate, Oakland, CA.
