Antique Thai Buddhist Temple Pediment.
An architectural remnant of an assembled teak triangular gable carved with elaborate and symmetrical “kanok” vegetal designs surrounding a central Buddhist gem design having the outline of an image that once adorned this pediment. The background inlaid with thin square mirrored glass tiles. The relief carving with remnants of additional irregular glass decorative insets of red, green and blue. the bottom relief rail with scale design of the “Naga” body topped with a row of relief lotus bud “krachang” finials. Traces of Gold leaf on the surround. 19th century.
Condition: Weathered with minor losses of carving, and glass tiles.
Measuring Overall: 70 inches wide x 47 inches high x 4 inches deep (178 x120 x 10cm).
