About the Item

Japan an important one-of-a-kind tall hand cast bronze effigy of Guanyin known as Gyoran Kanon or the -Fish Basket Bodhisattva- by artisan Hasegawa Masanobu (1903-1990). seen Adachi Museum of Art, Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture Dimensions: 35 inches high. Hasegawa Masanobu (1903-1990) Enrolled at Tokyo University of the Arts and was accepted at Teiten exhibition for the first time in 1932. After evacuating WWII destruction in 1945 he moved to Ojiya City and became a doji member of Sokei-kai in 1958 and member of the Buddhist Art Association in 1971. In 1976 he produced this bronze icon Gyoran Kanon which was first exhibited in 1977 and then exhibited at the Adachi Museum. A Superb casting.
