This another superb example of an Edo Period early 18th century or earlier Lion Mask created for the Lion Dances of the Gion Matsuri Festival. The mask is in overall good condition for its age and use. One ear is a replacement; the other ear is old, perhaps original. The mask retains its original articulated jaw and tufts of hair.
