Japanese Fine Old Flying Fish Hood Ornament

About the Item

Excellent collector condition. Coming from an old collection of Japanese sculptures, this energetic and impressive hand cast flying fish ornament was likely used as a potential model for an automotive hood ornament. It is signed on the bottom of display base. Dimensions: Flying Fish ornament including detachable base measures 8.75 inches tall and 13.5 inches wide. The fish only measures 7 inches tall and 12 inches length It is signed. This very fine white bronze okimono ( decorative object ) was created by the early 20th century artist Hiramatsu Koshun (1896-1975). Photographed in natural day light and in our indoor gallery for your viewing pleasure. About the artist: Hiramatsu Koshun ( 1896-1975), lived in Osaka and studied under Ktsura Koshun . He exhibited frequently at the Nitten and get many prizes. He lived and worked in Osaka area and studied under Kitsura Koshun. He produced very fine metal objects that were sought after by both Japanese and foreign collectors and connoisseurs of fine art. He extensively exhibited at the most prestigious Nitten art show and event and was one of the first Japanese artists to exhibit his works in Europe. This is a remarkable Japanese ornament Quality: finely fashioned with simple body, head, and fin details. Patina from appropriate age. Only one.
