Large Hand-Carved Tribal Wooden Bowl from the Batak of Sumatra

About the Item

Large beautiful and sustainable hand carved wooden bowl with gorgeous leaf design from the Batak of Sumatra, mid-20th century. Scaramanga's bowls are authentic old hand carved wooden bowls with small marks, imperfections and variations in color, and a well worn finish which are consistent with their age and original use. Sculptural form bowl with a beautiful texture add to their appeal and character. This massive South Asian bowl is hand hewn from a single piece of very dense ironwood, beautiful in its simplicity and was used in feasts and celebrations to display fruits and offering. Dimensions: 24 inches x 14 inches x 4.75 inches high . Condition: there is a small loss on the upper side, see pictures.
