Pair of Chinese Porcelain Nodding Sculpture of Court Ladies
About the Item
A lovely pair of Chinese export porcelain figures of court ladies with nodding heads, late Qing Dynasty, circa 1900, China.
The elegant ladies dressed in gorgeous traditional robes in the Manchu court style. The robes of greenish blue with a dense pattern of clouds and large floral roundels. Their youthful faces of pure white porcelain with rosy cheeks and red lips, and hair styled in an elaborate coiffure and secured by a large headdress with writhing qigong dragons.
Each holds a ruyi scepter in the form of naturalistic lingzhi in one hand, a coral handkerchief in the other.
The heads are molded separately and are movable.
