Votive Plaque with Walking Buddha in Sukhothai Style and Silvered Seated Buddha
About the Item
Votive Plaque with Walking Buddha in Sukhothai Style, Thailand, 18th or 19th century, cast in relief from a metal alloy of tin and lead with an iron like surface of a deep brown color mounted on a wood stand.
The walking Buddha depicts the Buddha's descent from the Tavatimsa Heaven. The graceful appearance, the clothing draped loosely around the body, left hand in abhayamudra and right hand at his side. Probably dates to the late Ayutthaya or early Bangkok period. The plaque measures 12 1/4" inches high x 4" inches wide, stand measures 16 1/4" inches x 5 1/4" inches wide.

A Sukhothai style silvered copper alloy figure of Buddha, Thailand, 20th century.
Seated in virasana on a shaped throne, his right hand in bhumisparshamurda, the left hand resting on his lap, wearing samghati, his face with serene expression, elongated earlobes, the curled hairdress and usniha surmounted by a flame. Measuring 4 3/4" inches high x 2 3/4" inches wide.
