A pair of antique American cast iron fireplace andirons, figural Hessian soldier form by Virginia Metalcrafters. Very collectible, in rustic patina, wonderful condition. Circa 1930s Dimensions: (approx) 16.5" high, 9.5" wide, 16.5" deep Virginia Metalcrafters began business in 1890, as the W.J. Loth Stove Company in Waynesboro, Virginia, and manufactured cast iron stoves and wood and coal heaters. In the 1890's frying pans, waffle irons, tea kettles and other cookware were added. In 1938, the company installed equipment for melting brass and other non-ferrous metals, selling them as Virginia Metalcrafters. In 1953 Charles Eckman purchased the company and formed Virginia Metalcrafters. The E.T. Caldwell Company and the Harvin Company of Baltimore, makers of decorative accessories and fireplace equipment were also added to VA Metalcrafters...
