About

Overall probably an allegory of might or strength. Instruments of war with oak leaves and acorns (oak being a very strong wood). Cut from paneling or from a trumeau, architectural fragment. Good antique condition. Overall oxidation, nicks and chips to gilt. A later French blue wash over a white ground and some dirt, grime. Age cracks to panel. All visible in photos. Later supports stripped in to re-enforce back panel . tung and groove /peg construction
