A Grand-Sized 19th C. Beautifully Painted Ceiling Panel from South India

About the Item

A grand sized 19th century painted wood Southern Indian decorative ceiling panel. This wooden ceiling panel from the Tamil Nadu area features a series of three mandala style paintings appropriated centered within the panel with delicate floral accents bordering the center and at each corner. The inner panel is primarily a deep red with hand-painted accents in blue, gold, and green. The simple outer frame surround is painted black. This exquisite late 19th century Indian ceiling panel would make quite a statement hung on a long wall.
