About the Item

Copper cladding is very durable, lightweight compared to other materials and techniques, and at the end of the building life is also 100% recyclable. The image shows copper elements from a set of rare mid-century modern wall panelling or cladding designed by Hungarian artists Edit Oborzil and Tibor Jeney in the late 1960s. • Designers: Edit Oborzil (1921-1996) and Tibor Jeney. • Period: Created circa 1968-1971 for the interior of the Hotel Helikon at Lake Balaton in Keszthely, Hungary. • Material: Artistic rectangular copper tiles with an abstract sun motif. • Variations: The original installation included concave, convex, or recessed elements like the one pictured, which likely served for hot air circulation or illumination.
